How to Use the DKIM Record Generator

Follow these simple steps to generate DKIM records for your domain:

1

Enter your domain

Type your domain name (e.g., example.com) into the input field. Do not include "http://" or "www."

2

Click Generate DKIM Record

Click the "Generate DKIM Record" button. The tool will create a DKIM key pair (public and private key) and generate the DNS record.

3

Copy the DKIM record

Copy the generated DKIM record. You'll also receive the private key that your mail server will use to sign emails.

4

Add to your DNS and configure mail server

Add the DKIM record to your DNS as a TXT record with the format selector._domainkey.yourdomain.com. Then configure your mail server to use the private key to sign outgoing emails.

Why DKIM Records Matter for Email Authentication

DKIM records provide cryptographic proof that your emails are authentic and haven't been tampered with. They use public-key cryptography to sign your emails, allowing receiving servers to verify the signature and confirm the email came from your domain.

  • Cryptographic authentication proves emails came from your domain
  • Prevent email tampering by detecting if messages were modified in transit
  • Improve deliverability by building trust with email providers
  • Enable DMARC policies which require DKIM (and SPF) to function properly
  • Protect domain reputation by preventing spoofing and phishing

How DKIM Record Generation Works

Our DKIM record generator simplifies the process of creating DKIM records:

  1. Generate key pair: The tool creates a public/private key pair using cryptographic algorithms
  2. Create selector: Choose or generate a unique selector identifier for your DKIM record
  3. Format DNS record: The tool formats the public key into the correct DNS TXT record structure
  4. Add to DNS: Copy the generated record and add it to your domain's DNS as a TXT record
  5. Configure mail server: Set up your mail server to use the private key to sign outgoing emails

The generated DKIM record follows RFC 6376 standards and includes all necessary tags for proper email authentication.
